DFD Associates provides consulting, process guidance, and research designed to assist client organizations in strategy development. Strategic planning assistance is applicable at various levels:

  • Organization-wide
  • A specific unit within a larger organization
  • A specific team or project
As a result, strategic planning consultations may be initiated by an upper-level administrator, a unit manager, a team leader, or a project director.
DFD sometimes serves an expert role in strategic planning, but often serves to guide planners and decision makers within the organization.

  • For a mid-sized private college, Tom Warger and Duane Dale conducted interviews and other information gathering, and developed a strategic plan for information technologies.
  • For a state college, Duane Dale provided process guidance for a campus-wide strategic planning process. He also provided training for steering committee members to prepare them to chair task forces and pursue widespread campus involvement.
  • For a state university, Duane Dale designed and led a three-day process to involve 160 people in planning the coming year's implementation of an existing strategic plan.
  • For a consortium of Cooperative Extension organizations, Duane Dale designed and led a two-day process to involve 300+ Extension educators and administrators in updating their association's strategic plan.
  • For a statewide committee created to support state funding for agricultural research, Duane Dale designed and led an intensive, 48-hour process to explore alternative visions for the endeavor and identify strategy and goals.
  • For several non-profit educational organizations, Dale has designed and led staff retreats to think strategic about the organization and its projects.
