Planning and facilitation of meetings and retreats is an important aspect of DFD Associates' contribution to organizational effectiveness. These services are appropriate for a range of situations:

  • Planning or decision making by a small group of key leaders
  • Team involvement in problem solving, innovation, or process improvement
  • Widespread stakeholder involvement in vision building, strategic planning, or plan implementation
  • Coping with crisis or rapid change
  • Developing reflective practice and organizational learning
  • Moving beyond the daily routine for a look at longer-term possibilities

DFD Associates works with meeting and retreat processes for groups of all sizes — from two to 200 or more. Our processes are sometimes highly structured to assure optimal use of time, but we often use approaches that allow for spontaneity and for addressing issues as they emerge:

  • Guided dialogue, with facilitation that helps participants clarify the realities they face and the options that are available;
  • Meetings in "open space" — in which even several hundred participants create an agenda on the spot to address a pre-chosen topic. (Click the link for more information on meetings in "open space.")
